Different Types of Stem Cell Therapy
When talking about stem cell therapy, there are really only two types of treatments that qualify.
These are adipose tissue stem cell therapy and bone marrow stem cell therapy.
Each of these treatments carries a certain degree of risk, and it’s a good idea to familiarize yourself with the details of the treatments before you move forward.
Here is some more information about each therapy:
Bone Marrow – This stem cell therapy takes cells from your bone marrow, or the bone marrow of a close relative, to be used to help relieve your health condition. To extract the cells from bone marrow, doctors need to drill into the bone, making it a highly invasive and painful procedure.
There is also the added risk of infection, and the quality of the treatment may be affected if the stem cells rush to the site of the new wound instead of their intended target.
It’s also important to note that stem cells extracted from your bone marrow have aged right along with you and have likely lost some of their healing capabilities.
Adipose Tissue – This procedure extracts stem cells from your fat tissue, also known as adipose, to be used for pain relief. One issue with taking cells from fat tissue is that toxins are often stored in fat tissue, which can find their way back into your body with the injection.
Also, like stem cells from your bone marrow, these cells have aged with you and may not be as potent as younger cells or tissue.
